Erbil, April 30, 2025 — The Ministry of Electricity, in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), has successfully switched 12 neighborhoods in Erbil and 2 neighborhoods in Slemani to 24/7 electricity as part of the ongoing Runaki Project.

This step is part of a broader effort to provide consistent and uninterrupted electricity to all areas in the Kurdistan Region. The neighborhoods included in this phase are now receiving round-the-clock power, reducing reliance on generators and easing daily challenges faced by residents.

In both Erbil and Slemani, the switch to continuous electricity is already having a positive impact on homes and businesses.

The Ministry of Electricity has confirmed that more neighborhoods will be switched in the coming phases, depending on technical readiness and network capacity.

At the same time, an awareness campaign has been launched to encourage responsible electricity usage.

The Runaki Project continues to advance as a central part of the government’s strategy to improve energy access and stability for the people of Kurdistan.
