At a press conference, Prime Minister Barzani stated that the electricity development initiative—previously focused on urban centers—is now expanding to include all provinces, cities, and villages. He affirmed the government’s goal to provide 24-hour electricity across the entire Kurdistan Region by the end of 2026.
The Prime Minister also called on citizens to use electricity responsibly, align consumption with the government’s strategic energy plan, and support efforts to improve public services. He stressed the importance of public cooperation in achieving sustainable energy solutions.
He further assured that electricity prices will remain affordable for the majority of citizens, and that the government is committed to ensuring transparency and effective governance in the energy sector through integration of both national electricity and current supply systems.
To date, over 600,000 citizens have benefited from the 24-hour electricity initiative. This number is projected to reach one million by the end of the month. The government also announced the provision of additional support and energy-related facilities to assist the public.
