The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced a major expansion of its 24-hour electricity service in Erbil, benefiting thousands of residents as part of the ongoing Runaki project.

Eight additional neighborhoods in Erbil—Kuran, Rizgari, Kurdistan, Bahar, Krekaran, Azadi, Majidawa, and Rasti—will now receive uninterrupted electricity. This expansion builds on the success of previous phases, which already provided round-the-clock power to the neighborhoods of Shadi, Bahari Nwe, Naznaz, Bakhtiari, and Sarbasti, collectively serving thousands of subscribers. .

The Ministry of Electricity and the team of the Runaki Project also confirmed that similar technical work has commenced in Sulaimani and Duhok, where additional neighborhoods will receive 24-hour electricity in the coming weeks.

H.E. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially launched the Runaki project on Oct. 17 during a visit to the Shadi neighborhood in Erbil. He emphasized the project's significance, stating, "The Runaki project is one of the most important service initiatives for the citizens of the Kurdistan Region. Our goal is to ensure 24-hour electricity availability across the entire region by the end of 2026."

The expansion marks a significant step toward improving public services and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the Kurdistan Region.
